Rihanna Reveals ‘Boob’ Envy In ‘MTV First: Battleship’

If there is a downside to what I do (talk to very talented, beautiful people), it’s that sometimes you’re sitting in between Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgård and you realize, wow, I must look like Golem next to them. But let’s not harp on my insecurities. Let’s instead focus on that genetically blessed quartet who star in the new film “Battleship,” opening May 18. I’m pleased to report that they’re a great bunch and absurdly entertaining to talk to.

You can catch my full interview with the gang on MTV.com following the premiere of an exclusive action scene from the film during “MTV First: Battleship” tonight beginning at 7:56 p.m. on MTV. Having already seen “Battleship,” I can tell you this clip really captures the mayhem in this blockbuster.

Anyway, what did I learn in my chat with this group? Well, no matter how freakishly gorgeous you might be, the grass is always greener on the other side. Rihanna revealed she’d like Brooklyn’s boobs (her words, not mine), and Brooklyn retorted that she’s envious of Rihanna’s um … well, her ass. As I said at the time, this was the best debate ever.

Movies don’t come much bigger than “Battleship.” Clearly if you have a “Transformers” itch for spectacle, this is the summer for you. But if there’s a side story worth talking about amid the ‘splosions, clearly it’s Rihanna. I spent a good portion of the sit-down with the cast talking to the pop-star-turned-actor and was duly impressed. Humble, self-effacing and quick to joke, count me in the Rihanna fan club from here on out. She’s got the right attitude and knows she has plenty to prove as she makes the move into acting (“Battleship” is her debut).

And if you’re not rooting for Taylor Kitsch, you are hereby my enemy. “John Carter” took a lot of knocks (most undeserved in my opinion), but this guy takes his gigs seriously (even if the films don’t look all that serious) from a distance.

I know what you’re thinking. They’re all gorgeous and awesome? Annoying, right?

Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker will hit MTV’s airwaves Monday, April 30, at 7:56 p.m. ET to premiere the exclusive clip, after which they will stick around for a meaty 30 minutes of Q&A on MTV.com.

Perhaps Kanye West doesn’t have to sleep like the rest of us mere mortals. That might explain how the rapper is seemingly everywhere at once these days: squiring Kim Kardashian all over New York, shooting a mysterious mini-movie in Qatar  and popping into a recording studio to work on tracks with pal Justin Bieber.

While the 18-year-old pop star has been wrapping up work on his upcoming album, Believe,  due out June 19, he got a visit from West. Bieber’s bodyguard Kenny Hamilton confirmed the superstar summit, tweeting out a photo of the pair working together on an unspecified song.

“Putting the finishing touches on the album and it’s gonna be special,” he wrote while posting an Instagram pic of West tapping away on a laptop in the studio with Bieber in the background. He followed with a post that appeared to be another enthusiastic response to the studio get-down, writing, “Also witnessed a current legend and one future legend make magic once again … I love this thing we call music!”

Bieber’s been giving his fans plenty of tantalizing sneak peeks over the past week. In addition to announcing the release date during an appearance on “The Voice,” he also brought along a teaser for his as-yet-unreleased “Boyfriend” video. After that glimpse, he was spotted shooting new scenes  for the highly anticipated clip in which he was kissing a mystery brunette on set.

“The concept of this video, I mean, it’s not like a steady concept,” Bieber told MTV News  while shooting the video back in March. “It’s not like ‘Justin follows this girl to this spot.’ No, it’s a bunch of amazing scenes: like a fire scene, we have an ice scene.

“It’s kind of like bouncing back and forth,” he said. “And then there’s scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It’s fun.” He also tweeted out the cover art  on Friday, a simple black-and-white close-up of his face with the word “BELIEVE” stamped in a yellow caution-tape font underneath. The album will reportedly feature a song reacting to the paternity suit  filed by a 20-year-old California woman who claimed she became pregnant with Bieber’s baby after a brief bathroom hook-up at an October 2010 concert; the suit was dropped in November.

In addition to whatever Kanye and Bieber cooked up, the album will also feature a duet with Taylor Swift , as well as magic made with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and Drake.

Usher To Preview Looking For Myself At Off-Broadway Show

Singer tells MTV News ‘Fuerza Bruta’ matches the ‘more artistic’ music on his upcoming album.

This Saturday (and this Saturday only), Usher will appear in New York City’s “Fuerza Bruta,” an off-Broadway show where no one speaks, but the story is told through bright lights, music and dancing. In the lead role of Running Man, Usher will also use the show to preview his June album release, Looking for Myself.

Fans in the audience will likely get closer than they’ve ever been to the singer, as the audience stands during the performance, becoming another member of the company. With several weeks until his album release, Usher explained to MTV News at a rehearsal why he wanted to use this show to preview tracks.

“I felt like the natural elements as well as the emotion of ‘Fuerza Bruta’ would definitely speak or be significant to some of the stories and I guess hopefully a connection [was there],” he explained of tying this performance to his album. “When we began to explore different directions [for the performance like] maybe we use some of their music, maybe we use some of mine … and before you knew it the idea came together. We tried it, I got on Running Man and it worked.”

The show will stream his entire album, which drops June 12, and he thinks the mind-bending artistry of “Fuerza Bruta” works with the sound he’s created on it. “This is more artistic of an album than I’ve had in history,” he said. “And I felt like yeah, it would be a lot for me, but I was willing to at least try it. There were many times I had seen the show and I only hoped that I would be able to make it happen.”

It’s not always easy being in a boy band. There are a lot of preconceptions for the five guys who choose to sing catchy pop tunes and dance in formation for a living.

Given that boy bands have come in and out of fashion once every decade for the last few years, it should come as no surprise that we are knee-deep in a brand-new boy-band bonanza. This one is being led by this generation’s ‘NSYNC and Backstreet Boys: One Direction and the Wanted.

When MTV News sat down with the Wanted to premiere their “Chasing the Sun” video, they chatted a bit about being labeled a “boy band.”

“Eventually, we were, like, over it,” Jay McGuiness explained. “If you like us despite it or because of it, then we’re happy.”

Well, something is working for the guys. Their lead U.S. single, “Glad You Came,” has topped the charts, and they are once again getting people dancing with “Chasing the Sun,” from their just-released debut U.S. EP. It’s a good time to be in a boy band, thanks to all the love out there for them. And it’s an even better time to be in the Wanted.

It seems that their success might have a lot to do with the way they’ve approached their boy-band career thus far. “We went out there and we’re like, ‘You know what? I think we can change people’s perspectives of the ’90s boy bands,’ ” Tom Parker explained. “And that was our aim: just to make good music.”

Snooki Wants Baby Before Wedding

Snooki may be planning for her baby, but she certainly isn’t planning her wedding just yet. The pint-sized reality starlet wants to welcome her first-born into the world before she officially becomes Mrs. Jionni LaValle.

“I mean, I do have a dream wedding,” she confessed to MTV News on Thursday in New York City, with her “Jersey Shore” besties JWoww and Pauly D by her side. “But I definitely don’t even want to talk about it or think about it because I’m not even ready for it yet. I just want my baby first.”

JWoww confirmed that the ever-expanding Snooki hasn’t put much planning into her wedding. “She’s in pregnancy mode,” Jenni added.

In footage from “Snooki & JWoww” shown to the Media on Thursday, Snooki drops the bombshell on her friend that she is both pregnant and engaged. While it seems JWoww is momentarily shaken, one ultrasound later, everyone seems on board for the baby. Though, there are still plenty of antics to be had, and they include the ladies apartment hunting, torturing their respective beaus and, yes, even hitting up a club or two for a night of dancing.

“I was very excited [when we found out about the baby]. I don’t know if I was more excited for what’s to come or the fact that we finally moved in together,” JWoww said of learning that there’d be another roommate in the house, growing inside her little friend. “But it’s not a dull moment. All of us, all eight of us [are going to help out]. It’s gonna have a lot of aunts and uncles.”

Snooki said the pregnancy may not have been in the reality-show plan, but they made it work. “When we film, it’s all about reality and what’s going on in our life,” she said. “So it’s not like we’re going in there and staging things. It’s what’s really going on in our life. It just so happens that I got pregnant while [we were filming].”

‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Sequel In The Works?

It’s more than a month until first Kristen Stewart film is released, but David Koepp is reportedly in talks to pen a sequel script.

Despite the fact that we’re still a little more than a month away from the release of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” there are already rumblings of a sequel.

According to Deadline, Universal has apparently already begun talking to screenwriter David Koepp about writing a sequel to the film, which is one of this summer’s most highly anticipated movies. Koepp certainly has enough credibility in drafting scripts for big blockbusters: He has screenplay credits on “Jurassic Park,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Spider-Man,” “War of the Worlds” and “Men in Black III.”

Naturally, we don’t know what happens to the characters over the course of the film, but star Kristen Stewart has already expressed interest in reprising her role as the titular Snow White.

“To be totally candid and honest with you, when I first signed on to this thing, the idea of doing another franchise was like, ‘Wow, [we'll] cross that bridge when it comes.’ It was something so far outside my realm of thinking,” she told MTV News when asked if she’d be game for more action and adventure as the fairest one of all. “I was so focused on the first one, and I thought, ‘Maybe, maybe,’ but I’ve got stars in my eyes. I’m literally over the moon about what I’m doing right now,” she said of her work on “Huntsman.” “Yes, I would love to [do more 'Snow White' films].”

“Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders is reportedly Universal’s choice to helm the sequel if it happens, and judging from his positive comments about working with Stewart, it seems likely the pair could team up again.

“Kristen is a very driven, visceral, intuitive actress. From a director’s point of view, it’s great to get into her headspace,” Sanders said. “We did a lot of work together on the script and character, and she really helped inform me how that character was feeling, which really helped my process getting the character onscreen. Kristen was doing a lot of her stunt work, she was riding horses, she was jumping from high precipices into freezing cold water, she was fighting dwarves — she’s gung-ho.”

Nas’ ‘Daughters’ A ‘Disappointment’ To Mother Of His Child

While fans are raving over Nas’ new single, “Daughters,” not everyone is happy about the Don’s ode to fatherhood. Especially Carmen Bryan, the mother of Nas’ daughter, Destiny, whom the MC raps about extensively on the No I.D.-produced track.

“Just heard ‘Daughters’ by Nas. What a disappointment! He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false,” Carmen Bryan wrote on Twitter Thursday after the song was released online.

Bryan’s Twitter isn’t verified, but MTV News was able to confirm through a source that the account in question does belong to Nas’ ex. Now, this isn’t the first time the MC has referenced his child on record; he first rapped about her on “The World is Yours,” a single off of his 1994 debut album Illmatic. On his 2004 double LP Street’s Disciple, Nas lovingly sang of “daddy’s little girl” on “Me & You (Dedicated to Destiny),” but “Daughters” has a distinctly different tone.

“I saw my daughter send a letter to some boy her age/ Who’s locked up, first I regretted it, then caught my rage,” God’s Son rapped on the track’s first verse.

On the second verse, the Queensbridge MC addressed the February incident when the 17-year old Destiny showed off her condom collection on Twitter. “At this point I realized I ain’t the strictest parent,” Nas rapped, blaming himself for not spending enough time with her.

Bryan is no stranger to scandal. In 2007, she penned “It’s No Secret,” a tell-all book that detailed how her and Nas’ relationship deteriorated and her affair with Jay-Z.

A label rep at Def jam, Nas’ label wouldn’t comment on the matter, but Nas did send out a special tweet to his little girl on Thursday. “I Love My Princess Destiny Jones,” he wrote.

“The Five-Year Engagement,” starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, doesn’t adhere to the same predictable romantic-comedy formula audiences are used to seeing. It doesn’t open with a comedic meet-cute, and there’s no quirky first date: The film follows Violet Barnes (Blunt) and Tom Solomon (Segel) after they’re already engaged.

When we meet the characters, their hurdle is how to survive a long engagement due to Violet’s budding postdoctoral career.

While some critics believe the movie is a half-hour too long, most agree that the talented cast of comedians brings the honest, insightful script to life. While “Five-Year Engagement” may not be the “Bridesmaids” of 2012, the reviews suggest the film will be a weekend hit.

The Story
“The first 45 minutes or so of ‘The Five-Year Engagement,’ which Segel wrote with director Nicholas Stoller (‘Get Him to the Greek’), pop and zing with both comic fizz and refreshing authenticity. Set to a delicious soundtrack dominated by Van Morrison standards, Tom’s and Violet’s lives feel more real than the usual Hollywood confections.” — Ann Hornaday, Washington Post

Even then, you’ll be dragged back into the picture’s spell in less than a minute. … The screenplay doesn’t pump up the stakes; it makes nothing extreme. These are just two people, and this is the drama of the everyday. “A scene, late in the film, with [Violet and Suzie] trying to have an adult talk in front of Suzie’s kids is a laugh riot, mostly because Suzie speaks in the voice of Elmo while Violet does Cookie Monster. OK, you have to be there, but the moment is memorably hilarious. ‘The Five-Year Engagement’ is like that, moving in fits and starts, but building a rooting interest in its characters that slaps a goofy smile on your face and keeps it there.” — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

According to Us magazine, the “Ringer” actress is pregnant with her second child with actor husband Freddie Prinze Jr.!

Of the family expansion, an Us insider “friend” of the couple dished, “She and Freddie are thrilled. They’re amazing parents.”

Having become husband in wife in 2002 after three years of dating, Sarah and Freddie had daughter Charlotte Grave seven years later in September of 2009.

All glammed up for another big night during the hit Fox series’ eleventh season, Jennifer Lopez made her grand arrival to the set of “American Idol” in West Hollywood on Thursday evening (April 26).
